Flaxseed & Oat Protein Curly Hair Gel is our OG—the very first product that founder Gabi made in her kitchen back in 2017. It’s still our cult favorite for curlies today because of how well it keeps curls soft, bouncy, and brilliant—without the crunchy, crispy, ramen-y texture that typically comes with a gel.
This product uses shea butter and jojoba oil to moisturize and define your curls. Flaxseed and oat protein work together to provide a light hold. Think soft, touchable waves that never have that hard cast feeling.
Flaxseed & Oat Protein Gel is ideal for 2A to 3C curls but can also easily be used for twist-outs and finger coils.
How to use: After washing, finger-comb wet hair to get out any tangles. Depending on hair length and thickness, use a quarter- to half-dollar-sized amount of gel. Flip your head and scrunch the gel into your hair, section by section. Use a cotton t-shirt (terrycloth towels can cause breakage!) to scrunch out excess water. Style as desired, including air-drying or diffusing.

I had seen and read about the product online and then saw it in a shop in Hawaii that carried bulk clean ingredient home and beauty products. I’ve been on a journey to find how to work with an enhance my 2B curls. This gel is great! I have a tendency to over-do products but this leaves my hair soft and bouncy, but greasy. The definition and hold is light. Based on my positive experience with the gel, I’ve gone on to try to the curl refresher and styling jelly. I love them all!
United StatesI can't say enough good things about this product! I've been struggling for years to find curl products that don't aggravate my sensitive skin and scalp with synthetic fragrances. While I've tried other supposedly clean gels and creams, they really did little to nothing for my curls. But I've been using this gel for a couple months now, and my curls have never looked so healthy and frizz-free! I'm able to go longer between wash days now and haven't had any issues with skin irritation or breakouts. I love the scent too -- it's subtle, pleasant, and natural. Bonus: I can clean and reuse the packaging. :)

United StatesIf you love the overwhelming scent of lavender then this is for you. They claim to use a very small amount of eo in this product but as someone who works with essential oils on a regular basis, I would caution you to stay away from any products that have eo’s. I was coughing and eyes burning. Not safe. I unfortunately wanted $60.
United StatesI wanted to try a refillable, chemical-free option for stying my hair and Bright Body did not disappoint! My curls look really healthy, last several days, and no frizz!!! There is not as much “body” to my hair, but the curls look fresh and bouncy, and I think if I blow dried I would get the same soft result but with more “body” if I wanted. Was really easy to use—follow the directions! I keep the product in the shower and t-shirt nearby. I previously used styling foam, but my hair would frizz on second or third day.
