Fragrance is the most common contact allergen in cosmetics.
Many synthetic fragrance compounds are also flagged for endocrine disruption, ecotoxicity, and bioaccumulation in the body and water supply.
ECOCERT and COSMOS - the international standards we formulate to - exclude most of them.
But we acknowledge a real tradeoff: some synthetic fragrances are produced more sustainably in a lab than the amount of plant material an essential oil requires.
But given our risk tolerance, we still avoid them.
We considered going entirely unscented across the line, but we ended up deciding against it.
The first thing most people do when sampling our products is sniff them.
And because we use many plant-based, herbal, and food-grade ingredients, the natural fragrance is a little funky.
So we compromised.
We acknowledge that no scent option is perfectly "clean" or eco-conscious, be've landed on the compromise that fits our standards.
No scents of any kind are added to these formulas. That doesn't mean they smell like the vacuum of space, it means they smell like the ingredients they're made with. If your child is under 1 year old, we strongly recommend using only unscented options.
Note: All Purpose Wonder Balm, Booty Barrier Cream, and Buzzeline are only available unscented.
Like walking through a grapefruit grove with a rose behind your ear while drinking a cup of herbal tea. This blend includes essential oils of grapefruit, geranium, fennel, basil, and sage. The total concentration of the essential oils makes up 0.75% of the formula.
